Aldershot Proms

Proms 2021

The 2020 ‘Poppy Proms’ has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus restrictions making it difficult for us to rehearse, and the uncertainty of what the restrictions will be in October.

However, you can look forward to 2021 when we expect to hold a Proms Concert as usual at Princes Hall, Aldershot in October. If you can't wait until then, you can re-live the 2019 Proms on YouTube:

The concert will be in aid of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal and another local charity. The 35+ musicians of the Farnborough Concert Band of the Royal British Legion will be directed by Mark Atkins and will play a lively mix of music but, as always, the evening concert will finish with the usual patriotic finale including ‘Land of Hope and Glory’ and ‘Rule Britannia’.

This is always a very annual popular concert with several thousand pounds raised for the two charities. You are advised to book early to be sure of a seat.

History of the proms concert

The Aldershot Proms Extravaganza has now been running for 21 years. It is specifically aimed at raising funds for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, but other charities have also benefited from the public's generosity at attending these concerts.

This continued support has enabled the band to donate over £100,000 to the Poppy Appeal and the following charities:

As always, these concerts are a musical feast of film, pop, show music all ending with a patriotic finale of Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory, giving everyone present a feel good factor about all things British.
