Aldershot Proms 2017
The 2017 Proms Extravaganza will be held at Princes Hall on Saturday 7th October 2017 in aid of the Poppy Appeal and KatCanDo (Frimley Appeal for Cancer Patients). The 40 musicians of the Farnborough Concert Band of the Royal British Legion will be joined by Soprano Helen Clutterbuck. There'll be a wide selection of music from the theatre, music from the movies and more traditional classical works.
You can expect the evening concert to finish with the usual patriotic finale as both Helen and the band join together to lead the audience in a round of Land of Hope and Glory and Rule Britannia.
Last year's concert was very popular and several thousand pounds was raised for the two charities. You are advised to book early this year to be sure of a seat.

The history of the Aldershot Proms
The Aldershot Proms Extravaganza has now been running for 20 years. It is specifically aimed at raising funds for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, but other charities have also benefited from the public's generosity at attending these concerts.
This continued support has enabled the band to donate nearly £100,000 to the Poppy Appeal and the following charities:
- The Army Benevolent Fund
- Kids Out 2004
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Hampshire Blind Association
- Make a Wish Foundation
- Club Hampshire
- Royal Society for the Deaf
- Parkinson's Disease Society
As always, these concerts are a musical feast of film, pop, show music all ending with a patriotic finale of Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory, giving everyone present a feel good factor about all things British.
